With God’s love, we seek adventure with our minds and find a home for our hearts
Our Vision
An excellent, nurturing education, valuing and respecting all. Everyone enjoying and exploring life in all its abundance, sharing our unique gifts, whilst growing together in love and understanding of the Christian faith.
‘Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others.’ 1 Peter 4:10a
I am extremely proud to be the Headteacher of Totternhoe CE Academy.
Our school vision underpins everything we wish to achieve for our pupils, families, community and staff:
An excellent, nurturing education, valuing and respecting all. Everyone enjoying and exploring life in all its abundance, sharing our unique gifts, whilst growing together in love and understanding of the Christian faith.
‘Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others.’ 1 Peter 4:10a
As soon as you walk through the door it is apparent that Totternhoe is a very special community that has at its heart a deeply caring ethos. Totternhoe is an inclusive school and we believe that our Christian values are important in every aspect of school life. These are taught through example as well as during house time, lessons and Collective Worship (assembly).
Our school values are always on display and change each half term. We have strong ties with St Giles, our local church. We are a part of the Diocese of St Albans Multi-Academy Trust (DSAMAT) as a Church of England School.
Totternhoe CE Academy is situated halfway between Leighton Buzzard and Dunstable. We have the luxury of beautiful grounds and many families travel to learn and play with us from our neighbouring towns because of the unique nature of our setting, our individualised learning approach and our commitment to excellence.
We nurture our pupils so that they may become confident, caring, compassionate children, ready to make a positive contribution to the wider community when they leave our care.
We are a small but incredibly hard-working, dedicated and committed teaching team and Local Governing Board (LGB), who are very proud of the education we provide for every child. I am privileged to work with a team of very talented teachers and support staff. We work hard to create an environment that provides children with numerous opportunities to experience success and develop a life-long attitude of learning, equipping them with the skills needed in today’s world.
Children are encouraged to build their self-confidence, develop self-reliance, take risks without fear of failure and make informed decisions about their learning. We believe that our emphasis on a family-orientated atmosphere, together with the expectation of high standards gives our children an ideal beginning to their school lives. We were pleased when in June 2022 OFSTED confirmed all of the above. Please read our report which can be found under the 'Key Information' tab.
We are committed to close relationships between home and school. There are many opportunities for parents and carers to find out about and to share in the education of their children. We have an open-door policy and actively encourage parents and carers to come in at the end of the school day, to discuss their child’s progress. There are termly 'watch me learn' sessions in class and we would encourage you to come and get involved and let your child become the teacher!
If you would like to find out more about our beautiful village school, please do call and we will happily arrange a tour.
We look forward to meeting you,
Totternhoe CE Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our children and young people and expects all staff, volunteers and visitors to the school to share this commitment
