Physical Education and School Sport (PESS)

Our vocabulary progression is a working document as we adapt to the needs of the children. When we make changes we will let you know on class dojo so you can take a look at the updated version.

Being Active at Totternhoe!

At Totternhoe, Physical Education (PE), Physical Activity and School Sport play an integral part in the school’s curriculum, as we want all children to be physically active, confident and literate in a way that promotes and supports a healthy lifestyle. This gives children the opportunity to develop sporting skills and enjoy participating in a range of sports, not just the traditional football and rugby.  These include cricket, archery, golf, tennis, netball, quicksticks (hockey), athletics, swimming, gymnastics and orienteering. A strong supporter of the Leighton Linslade Schools Sports Partnership (LLSSP), the school benefits from in-school coaching sessions plus participation in numerous inter-school events blending individual skill development with team ethos. We are also committed to providing 30 minutes of physical activity a day.  Where possible in the afternoons, children have 10 minutes  of physical activity using an activity like go noodle or supermovers or go outside to have a run around.

'Wake and Shake'
Wake and Shake' is a time where parents/carers are invited in to take part in three active dances with their child/children each Friday morning on the school playground.

School Games

The six School Games values - Teamwork, Self-Belief, Respect, Passion, Honesty and Determination  - were developed by young people to recognise how the experience of sport should be incorporated and embodied within schools, and to reflect the 'spirit' of the School Games. At Totternhoe C E Academy, we encourage all participants, members of staff, parents/carers and spectators to adopt and demonstrate the 'Spirit of the Games' at events. We use these values in our PE lessons too.
Achieving the  School Games Gold Award at first time (June 2015) of asking is recognition of the important role sport plays in a child’s development at Totternhoe and will act as an inspiration to pupils in future years . We were awarded  GOLD in 2016, 2017 and 2018. In 2019  and 2020 we received  PLATINUM which we are all very proud of!
Well done to all the children who put in the extra hours during training and to the staff that give up their time to take children to fixtures . A big thank you to the parents also who pick up after the many tournaments and events that we take part in.
Take a look at our PESS gallery to see pictures from the events that we have attended and held.

The Future Games PE and Sports Clubs

We have been working with schools in Leighton Buzzard and the surrounding area since 2010. We currently teach over 2000 children on weekly basis. Our philosophy is to deliver fun, inspiring, educational and safe PE lessons and sports clubs that will inspire and develop children's skills at the same time.
We provide schools with PE lessons delivering the full curriculum and a fantastic variety of traditional and non traditional sports clubs such as dance, multi sports, gymnastics, nerf wars, fencing and archery.

The Future Games Holiday Camps

We run an Ofsted registered holiday camp during each school holiday at Cedars Upper School. Our camp is a great way for children to have FUN, be ACTIVE, and make new friends in a SAFE environment. We have a great team of coaches and the primary goal for us is that PARENTS feel CONFIDENT leaving their children in OUR CARE and that CHILDREN go home HAPPY with a lasting memory of their Future Game experience.
We believe our camps are the best around and that your children will get the highest standard of CARE and COACHING on offer!
