Growing together in knowledge love and faith
Totternhoe CE Academy's Remote Education Provision outlines the school's commitment to ensuring continuity of learning when pupils are unable to attend school due to local or national restrictions. The provision aims to provide pupils and families with clear expectations regarding access to education during periods of remote learning.
The academy seeks to deliver its intended curriculum regardless of whether pupils are learning on-site or from home. Teaching is primarily delivered through live lessons, supplemented by pre-recorded content where appropriate. In some cases, high-quality resources from external providers may be used to enhance curriculum delivery. Adaptations may be necessary for practical subjects, such as Physical Education and Art, where specialised resources may not be readily available in the home environment.
Remote learning is delivered through an online platform. The school recognises that some families may face barriers to accessing online learning and therefore provides support where possible. This includes prioritising the allocation of laptops to disadvantaged pupils and those experiencing difficulties accessing digital learning. Recorded lessons are also made available to ensure flexibility for families who have limited access to devices.
Parents and carers are encouraged to support their children in maintaining a structured learning routine that reflects the normal school day, including participation in lessons, independent learning activities, and appropriate breaks. The academy also expects parents to reinforce safeguarding expectations related to the use of online learning platforms.
Teachers monitor pupil participation and engagement on a daily basis and review the quality and quantity of work completed. Where concerns arise regarding engagement or progress, staff contact parents directly to provide support and address any barriers to learning. Senior leaders oversee the implementation of remote education, including monitoring attendance, engagement, and the quality of educational provision, to ensure that pupils continue to receive an effective and inclusive learning experience.
