Billy
My name is Billy and I am in air house. I have been chosen to be a reporter for the Totternhoe Times. I am nine years old. In my spare time, I enjoy writing short stories and hope that this will be good preparation for writing in the Totternhoe Times.

Georgie
My name is Georgie and I am one of the Totternhoe Times reporters. I was born in September and I am 9 years old. I am in Year 4 in Sycamore Class and my teacher is called Mrs V for short. She is a very funny teacher.  I have two pet dogs called Roxy and Pickle. My favourite animals are dogs and elephants. KS2 Bletchley Park Visit
By Liam, Georgie & Millie
On Monday 10th February,  Key Stage 2, went to Bletchley Park. Bletchley Park was around in WW2 and it was the base of the code breakers. it is very old, beautiful mansion where you can have cake, coffee and tea. In Bletchley Park there were some huts and in one of the huts there was Alan Turing's office and his mug was chained to a radiator. Alan Turing was a code breaker in World War 2. After that, we had lunch. To start the afternoon we did our guided tour and finally to end our trip, we did a workshop. In the workshop we did some decoding. That was my (Georgie's) favourite part of the whole trip, in fact, all of it was very fun! There was a machine called the bomb and that had helped the British Army break the German code. The enigma machine was used to write the German codes. At the end of the day, we waited for the coach and came back to school. It was a brilliant day out!
Clubs
By Millie
Are clubs healthy for us?
Most clubs are, such as:  gymnastics, gardening, tennis, netball and glee. Some aren't, such as: library and maths.
Why do we have them at school?
Mainly so we don't always have to think about what to play. Also, in case you want to be more or less active.
Should we still do them?
I think we should because some of them make us more healthy and active.
Do we have to do them?
No, you don't have to but some people find them fun.
Harry says that  he enjoys netball with Mr Hill. "I enjoy that we play games. I think Mr Hill is a very good coach."
Mason says that he loves library club. "I enjoy looking after the library. I rarely have to raise my voice."
Callie had this to say about Glee, "I enjoy being with my friends. My favourite person to dance with is Millie. I like that Miss Jesson shows us the dances."

Pudsey Comes to Town
By Billy
On Friday 15th November it was Children in Need.   Children were allowed to wear something spotty with their school uniform, in return for a  donation.  Instead of 'Wake and Shake', we did a Pudsey and Joe Wicks workout through a live video link along with many other schools. We all had great fun as well as raising lots of money for a great course!

Youthful Young Leaders
By Billy
Year 4 have been taking part in 'Young Leaders'. People can join their clubs at lunchtimes where they do games. The Year 4s have different days to do their clubs. Young Leaders is a really good project because it teaches young people leadership skills.

MyBookBlog
By Liam
MyBookBlog is an app where you can  get books and you can do lots of things like answer comprehension questions and collect fact cards. I like to answer questions about the book that I am reading. You can also do a vocabulary test, write a short summary   and answer a voting question to do with the book.

CYE Trip
By Millie
When we were in the minibus it was rainy and it was SO noisy. The trip took ages to get there and when we did arrive, we had to run to the ship. I found out I was in a cabin  with Georgie, Darcy and Scarlett. When we got there, our first activity was long boat sailing.  I got very cold, very quickly.   After that, we had free time. Then the bell rang for dinner. The dinner was delicious and then we had a delicious pudding. It was the best trip ever.
The activities we took part in included: an obstacle course, kayaking, swimming, long boat sailing and tunneling.
The instructors we remembered were called:  Suzie, Rosie, Jake, Graham, Bacon, Rob, Paul and Matt.
Thank you:  Mrs Mitchelmore, Mrs Colomb, Mrs Riach and Mrs Harrison.

The Best Trip Ever
By Georgie
This November, lots of other people and I went on a 4 day trip. We went to CYE (Christian Youth Enterprise). All of the people that went on the trip with each had a cabin. We shared the cabin with up to 4 people, I shared a cabin with Millie, Scarlett and Darcy.
There were 6 different activities that you might have done. Here are the 6 activities: longboat sailing, rafting, tunneling, assault course, kayaking and archery. They were all very fun. On most of the nights we would have a little activity to do. All of the night time activities were very fun too.

Online Safety Week

A couple of weeks ago we took part in online safety week. The whole school has lessons about how to keep safe online, what to do to protect yourself and what not to do. We learned about keeping our details safe such as our passwords, address, school, phone number, real name, age and much more. We were reminded that we should never share this information with anyone else because it would cause us harm. People may pretend to be us or try to trick us into believing they are someone they are not. They might find where we live or come to our school which could cause danger for ourselves and those around us.
You often see in the news when people pretend to be people they are not, it is believed online and then when they meet the lies come out. This just shows how dangerous it is to meet with people you have met online….so don’t do it! Finally as children remember you shouldn’t be using any devices unless you have an adults permission, that includes; phones, tablets, computers, laptops, Xbox/PlayStations.
Think….Stay Safe Online!

Terriffic Totternhoe                                                    by   Harry and Oscar

On Thursday the 27th of September we went to Cedars to play a football tournament. Our reward was coming 4th place. Oscar and Harry both scored 1 goal. We won 1 match that was 2-0 and we lost 3 matches. In the 2-0 victory Oscar scored a penalty. Harry scored in an open goal. The referees didn’t tell us that one of their goals was a free-kick not a penalty, so we stood behind the ball so they won 3-0. It was a great day and we think we worked well as a team.

Gymnastics Competition

On Tuesday the 5th February we went to the gymnastic competition at Harlequins where we  had to perform a gymnastics routine. We had to do everything from a volt to going on the bars, moving across an air track in different ways, forward rolls and using a trampoline. Mrs Beary and Mrs Backhouse were kind and made sure we had a drink during the competition and cheered us on. We all really enjoyed it. After the competition we ate our snacks on the way back to school in the minibus. We had so much fun, one of the children said “My favourite was the bars”. We are hoping to take part in another competition very soon!
By Charlotte

On Tuesday the 5 th of February a few of the Year 1’s, 2’s, 3’s and 4’s travelled to the gymnastics competition where we had to perform gymnastics routines in front of a very kind Judge at Harlequins Gym. We had to go on a volt in front of everyone and also the bars, air track, trampolines and perform forward rolls. We all worked really hard to remember out routines and did our best. All of the activities were in different areas around the gym. My personal favorite was the bars because we got to do flips and hold in a pike and straddle shape. I am really looking forward to the next competition and hope I get the chance to take part again.

The Fantastic Faith Tour                                                                                                                                                                                              by Charlotte and Lilia. Interviews by Jessica

On Wednesday 3rd October, Year 3 and 4 went to Bedford to visit a Gurdwara, a Church and a Mosque. When we got to the Mosque, we took off our shoes at the entrance and put them into boxes. A man led us into a room which had a blue carpet. The carpet was designed to look like lots and lots of prayer mats and they all faced East because that’s where Mecca is. We learnt about the different prayer positions, the call to prayer and lots of the rules they had to follow.
Next, we visited a Christian church, just down the road from the mosque. When we got inside a man introduced himself. We learnt about the baptismal font and what special rules Jesus taught. We searched around the church to find Christian objects and special things about the church. We found the cross and the crucifix. The stained glass windows showed lots of different saints and special people.
Finally, we visited the Gurdwara which was like a palace. We washed our hands and had our lunch, which had to be vegetarian food. We were told about the ten Gurus and why Sikhs were called Sikhs. This is because Guru means ‘teacher’ and Sikh means ‘learner’.
Lots of children thought it was ‘good fun’, ‘exciting’ and ‘very intriguing’. Everybody who we asked thought the Gurdwara was the best bit.
