Interactive resources to practise  Phonics Phase one

Learning to read is a complex process and, in order for children to be able to understand  phonics , they need to have  sophisticated  communication and language skills. There is lots that you can do as a parent to help them develop their language and communication skills by:
  • Read the same stories regularly as repetition helps children to understand and remember the language that they hear.
  • Sing action songs and rhymes with your child as this will help them about the rhythm and patterns of language.
  • Special Time – spend 10 minutes with your child with no distractions, do an activity together, e.g. play a game or talk about their day with them. Turn off the TV/radio and play together instead.
