Our Christian Value for this half term is CourageCourage is…
Carrying on when things are difficult Overcoming fear Understanding and facing a challenge Risking being out of your comfort zone Always believing in God’s promises Going for a goal Empowered by encouragement Headteacher's WelcomeI am extremely proud to be the Headteacher of both Totternhoe CE Academy and Kensworth CE Academy.
Totternhoe CE Academy is situated half way between Leighton Buzzard and Dunstable. We have the luxury of beautiful grounds and many families travel to learn and play with us from our neighbouring towns because of the unique nature of our setting, our individualised learning approach and our commitment to excellence. As soon as you walk through the door it is apparent that Totternhoe is a very special community that has at its heart a deeply caring ethos. Totternhoe is an inclusive school and we believe that traditional values are very important. These are taught through example as well as during house time, lessons and Collective Worship (assembly). Our academy values are always on display and change each half term. We have strong ties with St Giles, our local church. We are a part of the Diocese of St Albans Multi Academy Trust (DSAMAT) as a Church of England School. This includes our transition as a Primary School, in September 2020 we will have our first class of Y6 children, we have been planning for sometime and are very much looking forward to providing a full key stage 2 provision. We strive to nurture our pupils in order that they may become confident, caring, compassionate children, ready to make a positive contribution to the wider community when they leave our care. |

Ofsted Report 2013 |
We are a small but incredibly hard-working, dedicated and committed teaching team and Advisory Council, who are very proud of the education we provide for each and every child. I am privileged to work with a team of very talented teachers and support staff. We work hard to create an environment which provides children with numerous opportunities to experience success and develop a life-long attitude of learning, equipping them with the skills needed in today’s world.
Children are encouraged to build their self-confidence, to develop self-reliance, to take risks without fear of failure and to make informed decisions about their own learning. We believe that our emphasis on a family orientated atmosphere, together with the expectation of high standards gives our children an ideal beginning to their school lives.
We are committed to close relationships between home and school. There are many opportunities for parents and carers to find out about and to share in the education of their children. We have an open door policy and actively encourage parents and carers to come in at the end of the school day, to discuss their child’s progress. We also invite parents to join us for wake and shake sessions and Star awards each week. There are termly 'watch me learn' sessions in class and we would encourage you to come and get involved and let your child become the teacher!
If you would like to find out more about our beautiful village school, please do call and we will happily arrange a tour.
We look forward to meeting you,
Mrs Olivia Bates
