Academic Year 2019 - 2020
At Totternhoe CE Academy we use a house system. All the children and staff in school have been allocated a house and spend some time each Friday in their house working on the Value of the half term or a PSHE theme.
The School Council had the first job, and that was to decide on house names.
The School Council decided on :
The first task for the newly formed houses was to design a house logo. The winning designs were made into the house captain and vice captain badges.
The winning logos were created by: (2016)
Fire - Kaya (Y3)
Water - Holly (Y2)
Air - Jade (Y2)
Earth - Bojta (Y2)
We certainly have a talented bunch of artists at Totternhoe!
HOUSE CAPTAINS AND VICE CAPTAINS
The house and vice captains were decided by a vote amongst the house members. Hustings were held where each candidate answered questions before a closed ballot was taken. This year we have Year 5 children for the first time, so we chose our House Captains from Year 5 and the Vice Captains from Year 4.
Everyone in the school can earn house points. The house captains will be in charge of counting these up on a Tuesday and keeping it a surprise until our Star of the Week assembly on a Tuesday afternoon!
We then display the amount of house points earned each week and each term on two displays, the weekly display is in the hall and the termly display is in the main corridor. The termly display is based on a race track design, so the children voted in their houses for an animal to represent their House to run on the track. The termly display also shows the total amount of House Points earned across the whole year.
The animals they chose are:
Fire - a flaming horse
Water - a narwhal
Air - an owl
Earth - a cheetah
