Healthy Eating and Physical Activity

At Totternhoe CE Academy Preschool we believe children benefit greatly from experiencing physical activity daily, be provided with healthy foods and learn about good nutrition. By embedding healthy practices within a safe, challenging and supportive environment.
We support the children’s development in nutrition and physical activity by:
· Providing the children with healthy snacks every session and we use this time to discuss healthy food choices. We also provide 2 drink options, water or milk
· Giving the children the opportunity to purchase school dinners when they attend all day sessions.
. Providing the children with the opportunity to grow, tend and pick their own vegetables within the preschool garden.
·  Providing the children with opportunities to take part in cookery activities every half term with either our home-grown fruit and vegetables or healthy ingredients from the shops.
· Providing free flow play from the indoors to the outdoors, which is provided in all weathers apart from if it is deemed unsafe.
· Provide  weekly active sessions for children to meet their needs and develop an understanding of a healthy lifestyle.
·    Providing children with the opportunity to learn about physical activity and nutrition will give them the skills to continue healthy practices in later life.
