Academy Council
Our Academy Council (AC) is a council of local stakeholders who represent the different parts of our Academy’s community, jointly with Kensworth CE Academy, with the objective of providing Totternhoe CE Academy and Kensworth CE Academy with sound governance within the overarching governance structure of the Diocese of St Alban’s Multi Academy Trust (DSAMAT) in the form of the RHB (Regional Hub Board).
Our primary objective is to ensure the best outcomes for the Academy’s children and young people.
The Academy Council consists of a minimum of three and a maximum of ten members (not including the HT) and should include members from the following;

As part of the DSAMAT, Totternhoe CE Academy operates under an agreed Governance Scheme of Delegation. The Governance Scheme of Delegation provides for certain functions to be carried out by one or more of the following;

- 2 x appointed staff members
- 3 x appointed parent members (elected)
- Head Teacher
- 3 x community members. These members should be appointed, not elected and would need to undertake a skills audit.

Site walk rounds and termly monitoring visits are also carried out to observe and report against the Academy’s progress in agreed priority areas.

- Set and monitor local and centralised policies
- Management of risk
- Monitor progress on key priorities on the Development plan
- Audit and reporting on matters of compliance e.g. website
- Learning walks in the academy to monitor ethos
- Hold discussion with pupils and staff to gain insights into the workings of the academy
- Minutes from meetings feed into the RHB
- The chair of the AC sits on the RHB

Who are we?
Mr Shuffleton - Chair
(To contact the chair use the school address/ email) I live in Totternhoe and have been an active member of the Advisory Academy Council of both Totternhoe and Kensworth since 2018. I was elected chair in 2019. As a parent with two children currently at Totternhoe C.E. Academy, and a passion for education and our communities, I have the pleasure of supporting your children in their educational journey at both Academy schools. My professional background is within the Construction sector, where I currently hold a Director position within a national organisation and will use my professional and personal skills to help flourish learning at both Academies. I am the Vicar at Totternhoe, Stanbridge and Tilsworth and commenced this role in July 2017. I carried out my training in London and my Curacy in Nantwich. Prior to this, my background was in youth work and I am passionate about helping young people to develop their own unique potential.

Mrs D Mitchelmore - Staff
I am the Assistant head teacher. I have taught in all year groups at Totternhoe and currently teach KS2. My background is in science, and I previously worked as a biomedical scientist before my three children came along! I have been teaching since 2003, which I thoroughly enjoy! I am very keen to develop our curriculum and offer a broad range of learning opportunities here at Totternhoe, making the most of our unique and beautiful site and the surrounding areas. I am privileged to be part of an extremely hardworking and dedicated team of staff and Council members, who all want the best for the children in our care, academically, emotionally and socially. |
Governors Trust Fund
The governors trust fund meets 3 times a year and works hard to raise funds for the school for additional resources. Most recently the trust fund have paid for WiFi to be installed, 6 ipads and have recently paid for the entire library and nurture/ music room redevelopment.
